Immersive Filming

360 video camera operator filming controlled burn with Insta360 Pro camera and safety gear
Professional 360° capture of wildfire training VR experience

Forrest has been filming Immersive content since 2014 when the go-to for 360 footage was GoPros attached to each other. Since then, he has filmed with every major 360 and 180 camera that has come out. Each camera has its own perks, and only from using them can a camera operator get a sense for how best to use them.

Forrest has used the Z Cam V1 Pro, Insta360 Pro 2, Insta360 Titan, Canon R5C with the Dual Fisheye lens, and the Blackmagic Ursa Immersive. From stitching and working on the post-production for all these cameras, Forrest is able to guide clients and actors to get the most pleasing results.

Immersive filming requires a different approach than traditional cinematography. Camera placement, blocking, and lighting all need to account for the 360-degree field of view. Forrest has been working within these constraints since 2014.

Forrest's immersive work has taken him to some interesting places — climbing wind turbines, swimming with whale sharks, strapping a 360 camera to a pig and horse, flying drones over the oceans of Hawaii and Thailand, and filming a US Coast Guard pirate ship takedown. All footage is processed through immersive post-production for final delivery.
